Triple French Braids

Sorry for the slack blogging lately. Life...ya know?

Here is a submitted tip from Hilary. Her daughter has beautiful red hair and this style really shows it off.

Section the hair into three parts, one in the middle and one on each side.

I would temporarily pull all sections into elastics to make it easier to braid.

Braid each section down past the hairline and secure with an elastic.

Braid all three braids together and secure with one more elastic.

I wanted to post this picture, because this was after swim lessons & then swimming at home for another hour or so & it still held up pretty good. I'm always trying to think of things, especially in the summer that will stay in all day long & I don't have to redo after playing, swimming or naptime. I think it stayed pretty good. The closer your rubberbands are, the better the hair will stay in, usually. You won't have to be fixing it thru out the whole day. I just parted her hair into thirds. Clipped the top & bottom so I could just work with middle. Then I sectioned her hair off adding rubberbands along the way, doing a zig-zag. At the end, I just combed it all over to one side and pulled it all together into a messy, side pony.

I can never just do two pigtails. That's very rare in our family. This was super easy, but it adds so much. To get the messy ponies: don't pull the hair all the way through, leaving a loop. I gather all the hair in the loop & kind of make a ball with it and just rubber band it and it makes cute messies!! I know - it sounds retarded the way I do it - I don't know how to word things. It's harder to write it down than just to show

I LOVE to do knots!! The looks super cute and you can do them so many different ways. The easiest way is to make your ponty tail, then get the end of a skinny comb & push it through the pony, dividing it in half. Then pull all of the hair in the pony through it & pull it tight. The smaller the pony, the better!!

For my little girl & niece's dance pictures, I took the initiative to do their hair the same. I think it turned out darling. Little girl updo's are SO cute, especially for pictures or church!!

girly up-do

I wanted a little updo for my girl's princess party. I wanted something with a headband around her head, so this is what I came up with. I don't have a front shot, but I parted her hair on the side, where I normally would. Then I parted it from the part all the way around her head, where a head band would sit, & started french braiding it. I french braided the right side of the part & then I also french braided the left side of the part, it was not one continuous headband. I pulled the rest of the hair into a high ponytail along with the remaining braided pieces. I curled her hair with a flat iron (it works just like a curling iron, but faster) and then pinned some of the curl pieces up so it wasn't all hanging and the curls wouldn't fall out before the party.
